I-64 Information

The rebuilding of I-64 (also known as Highway 40) continues in 2009. This page has been created to give our Fox patrons access to information and links that will assist with navigation during this time. The links above provide access to up-to-date travel times and mapping alternatives around the construction.

The inner 5 miles of the construction zone, from I-170 to Kingshighway, are closed and remain so during 2009. Some things you should know in planning your trip.

  • Heading east on I-64, traffic will be diverted north at I-170.
  • Heading west on I-64, traffic will be diverted at Kingshighway, going north or south.

There are excellent drawings on www.thenewi64.org (look under construction zone) that show in great detail how traffic will flow between the interstates during construction.

Directions to the Fox Theatre
There are many options for getting to the Fox Theatre during the I-64 construction. Some of them include:
  • I-70 - take I-70 east to the Grand exit, and turn right onto Grand to the Fox.
  • I-44 - take I-44 east to the Grand exit, and turn left onto Grand to the Fox.
  • I-64 will be open east bound to I-170. Take I-170 north to Forest Park Parkway and take the Parkway east. Turn left on Vandeventer and continue to Washington Avenue and then turn right and continue 2 blocks to the Fox.
  • Or take I-64 a bit further north to Delmar and take it east to Vandeventer. From there you will turn right on Vandeventer and left on Washington and continue to the Fox.
  • Manchester – You can also take I-64 to Brentwood south and then pick up Manchester going east. Head north at Kingshighway and pick up the open portion of I-64 and continue east to Vandeventer. Or you may continue on Manchester all the way to Vandeventer. Turn left onto Vandeventer continue to Washington, and then turn right onto Washington to the Fox.
  • Other options from the west include picking up Lindell at Skinker and head east to Vandeventer then left. (see above)
There are many other alternate possibilities, as well. Several of the site links above offer mapping that takes into account the I-64 construction zone. However, these will largely stick to the interstates and will not take into account the local arteries which may be more useful. If you are coming from the west, we recommend you allow at least 20 minutes extra for driving to the Fox.

Those coming from the north, south or east of the Fox should not be affected by the I-64 project, although we recommend you consider arriving early, as we anticipate traffic around the theatre will get very heavy in the last 20 minutes prior to show time.
